EVENT INFORMATION

+ Why are you supporting Beatson Cancer Charity?

The Thornhill 10K – Round The Frews has been created in honour of local dairy farmer, Steven Black, who passed away in 2020 after a short battle with Duodenal Cancer.

Duodenal Cancer is a very rare and difficult to detect, often until it is too late, therefore greater research is required into screening and treatment for this aggressive cancer.

Not long after Steven passed away, his close friend Neil MacLaren started a year long challenge, of running 10K every day, to fundraise for Beatson Cancer Charity. Neil completed this amazing challenge in April 2021 and raised over £10,000.

Steven and Neils’ families have teamed up with Tay Fitness Events to bring you the Thornhill 10K – Round the Frews from 2022. You will be taking on the same route that Neil pounded, through all weathers, to complete his 10K a day for a year challenge. £2 from every entry fee will go to our 2024 charity along with fundraising on the day of the event.

We all want the memory of Steven to live on in the village and to continue to support the fight against cancer, in his honour.
